Wicked!
It’s official! The smash Broadway musical, Wicked, is coming to the big screen! But don’t get TOO excited just yet because you won’t be seeing it next summer. Or the one after that. Or the…well you get it.
It was announced yesterday that Wicked will be turned into a major motion picture through Universal Studio! Marc and Stephen Schwartz are refusing to let Wicked be made into a film until it’s reached it’s end on stage, much like Judy Cramer with “Mamma Mia!” which is finally coming to theaters this Summer.
However the president of Universal Pictures, Donna Langley, announced on July 15th, 2008 that they are currently in negotiations to make Wicked into a feature film! Winnie Holzman, who wrote the stage production of Wicked, will be writing the screenplay. No casting decisions have been made as of now.
Okay so this is exciting news to me because I saw Wicked on Broadway and I LOVED it! I listening to my iPod for the first half of Phantom Of The Opera and fell asleep for the second half, and I wanted to hang myself halfway through seeing Cats, but I loved Wicked ALOT! I thought the story was fantastic, the music was extremely catchy, and the acting was great! As soon as it was over I said that I’ll be excited to see the movie, knowing that obvious it would be made eventually. Well the time is finally (almost) here! :D
